I see clients online and face-to-face, either outdoors or indoors in Hursley.

You may want to start making sense of your experience and your relationships, whether with others or yourself.

Talking to a trained attentive listener can lead you to see new options and gain the motivation and confidence to create change. Having someone to witness you through your struggles and your successes, and feeling accepted can help you develop new insights and bring hope in your life. Together, we can experiment new ways of thinking, doing and feeling, in order to bring you relief, and more flow.

I find that, for some of us, working outdoors can enhance the work we do in psychotherapy, whilst providing a less oppressive environment than sitting in the confined space of a room. Contact with the natural environment can be of great help for making sense of our existence and our difficulties, as well as getting in touch with our resources and feelings. There is plenty of evidence of the benefits for mental health of doing therapy outdoors.

How therapy works and what it does

The exclusive attention of someone who listens to you and the whole of your experience in a non-judgemental, genuine and caring way is healing in itself.

Therapy provides the non-judgmental space needed to talk and think about what is the most important for you right now. It helps you (re-)connect with yourself and make the changes you feel are right for you. Therapy can be hard work and it can be fun too. There is no magic trick. It is not something that is done to you. A good therapist helps you find your own solutions and confidently take ownership of the direction you want to give to your life. Typically, we will meet weekly at the same time. Therapy tends to be more effective if it is regular, especially at the start. If fortnightly sessions is what you need or want, it is also possible.

Warning!!!

  • From the first session, whatever you realise about yourself and others will not be unlearnt. It is important to understand that counselling will change your perspective and that your relationships might change too, as a result. It is not something you nor I can control. It is worth considering this before committing to therapy.
  • It is quite normal to feel some up and downs during the course of therapy. So, I encourage you to share with me whatever you are feeling so that we can adjust the pace and intensity to a level you can tolerate.
